How to prevent pregnancy stretch marks: remedies, treatment and solutions

One of the biggest side effects of a pregnant belly are the stretch marks that appear during pregnancy and after the baby has been born. Here are some ways you can avoid pregnancy stretch marks:

Eat well and stay hydrated:

Eat a well balanced diet and drink 8-10 glasses of water so that your skin can remain healthy, elastic and supple during pregnancy. Not only is this very important for your growing baby, but also for your own health. Healthy skin is less prone to stretch marks.

Gain weight gradually and within limits:

Try not to gain excessive weight during your pregnancy and stay within the recommended weight guidelines. Don’t use your pregnancy as an excuse to over indulge in junk foods and sweets. This is the most important time ever that you need to eat a healthy, wholesome and balanced diet.

Moisturize your body heavily:

This is the most important way to avoid stretch marks from occurring. Use a good quality cream or lotion, ideally a cocoa butter, shea butter or an almond oil rich body cream, or even creams that have been especially made for stretch makes and apply them all over your belly, breasts, sides, lower back, hips, thighs and anywhere else that you may think stretch marks can occur. Do this twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, and every time you get out of the shower.

Don’t scratch that itch!

If you feel itchy on your belly, sides or hips don’t scratch it! Apply more moisturizer and gently rub the skin instead. The itching is a sign that your skin is stretching in that particular area of your body and by scratching you are practically calling for stretch marks to develop.

How to hide stretch marks

You can use some stretch mark cream, use special clothing that may help you hide your it temporarily. for e.g. Cocoa butter can be used to reduce appearance of stretch mark on your body.
